Tribute to Dr. John Arthur Jones
To the Jones Family, Deacon Willie and I mourn with you on this sad occasion on earth; but,
joyful homecoming in the heavens!
Dr. John Arthur and I grew up probably 20-25 miles apart in the Carolina’s.
We did not encounter each other in the NC/SC states, but years later.
Fast forward to the year 1984-1985 Reston VA, our paths crossed at Christian Fellowship Church and Martin Luther King, Jr Christian Church! Fast forward to 1997 and we printed a dedication booklet for our MLK Church. We both share an older generational name; we are most likely familial cousins.
Dr. John Arthur loved his beautiful and kind wife Adele, his children and his grandchildren. He also loved the children of this greater Reston/Herndon community by teaching math and reading on Saturday mornings gratuitously. Children also came from other local areas seeking to learn. A grand Thank you to Dr. John Arthur and Mrs. Adele Jones.
What a musical voice, Dr. J Arthur could interpret the Spirituals with such passion and depth! Your musical soul could not help but feel the melody and spirit. Songs such as ”Sweet Little Jesus Boy”!, I want Jesus to walk with me!, My Tribute (How can I say Thanks…..) and on and on……. a beautiful tenor.
We thank our God for your life and your witness, Dr. John Arthur! Sleep in Heavenly Peace until we all can sing praise in the Heavenly Choir. Rest!
