Mildred Lee

Obituary of Mildred Lee

Please share a memory of Mildred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mildred Byers Lee was born to the couple Edna Brown and Midell Docking.  She was raised by Ira and Flossie Brown Byers with her three siblings: Pauline, Oueda, and Lonnie J. Byers.  Mildred was well known to most Family and friends as “Pee Wee” or “Millie”.  She came to Arlington, Virginia from Shelby, North Carolina to be with her mother Flossie, Brother Lonnie, and sister Oueda.

In 1943 she met John R. Lee (Boo).  During this courtship, John joined the United States Army where he served for four years.  They were in love and married in 1951.  John and Mildred were married for 63 years before his death on February 2, 2015.

Mildred held many jobs but the one she held dear the most is when she was taking care of children.

Mildred joined Macedonia Baptist Church under the ministry of Reverend Phillips in 1968 where she remained a faithful member until her death.  She was a member of the Missionary Ministry and also served as a member of the Culinary Arts Ministry.  Mildred was also a member of the Arlington View Seniors of Johnson Hill.

Mildred leaves to mourn a biological niece Mildred Byers, great niece Nilcrea Bentley, great nephew Brian Tinsley, and host of nieces, nephews, and cousins from her marriage in the family of her husband.   She also holds dear her niece Constance Brooks and nephew James Lee who have been closely by her side ever since the death of her husband, and their Uncle “Boo”.  She also leaves to mourn the Brown, Byers, Burris, Corry, Davis, Dickerson, Jeter, and Logan families from North Carolina and a special friend David Stulman and his family.

Mildred wrote this since most of her blood relative are cousins, and younger than her, from her birth side of the family in Shelby, North Carolina.  Since there are too many to name, she wanted you to know you are loved and wants you all to love each other and stay in touch.

She loved you all Family and friends.
