Obituary of Paul D. Jackson

Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

At God's calling, our Beloved Brother, Paul Devon Jackson transitioned from labor to reward.
On Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 1966, Paul was born to the late
Alberta Canty Jackson and Oscar Lee Jackson, Sr. Paul received his education in D.C. Public
schools: Bunker Hill Elementary, Bertie Backus Junior High and Theodore Roosevelt Senior
High School, class of 1983. Paul was indoctrinated in the Who’s Who Among American High
School Students and went on to attend the University of the District of Columbia.
Paul held many jobs throughout his life, but his favorite job was with a DC law firm. In recent
years, Paul established a Handyman and Landscaping business. He especially enjoyed
landscaping properties during the Spring and Summer months. He had many great relationships with
his customers, and they would not allow anyone other than Paul to maintain their property.
Paul attended Plymouth Congregational church on the corner of North Capitol and Riggs Road
with his siblings. Paul accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. Paul continued to worship and serve the Lord. We will fondly remember Paul for his dedication to his family. No matter what was asked of him,
Paul was always there to answer the call for help. Although Paul was a quiet person, he had a
great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing all his nieces and nephews by calling them by the
name of their siblings or even their parents. His nieces and nephews engaged with Paul to
make sure he would get their name right. This exchange would always result in Paul erupting in laughter and the kids smiling or laughing with him. Paul always said he didn’t have any children
of his own, so our children were his children; he was proud of those relationship.
Paul also loved books and had a nice collection, including an assortment of Bibles.
Paul had a healthy appetite and enjoyed feasting and bonding at family
events. Family gatherings were the most important times in his life. We will always remember
and cherish Paul’s laughter at our family events.
Paul leaves behind six brothers: Oscar Jr., Gerald, Jamie, Jimmie, Steve, Maurice (his
brothers Gregory and Mark preceded him in death); three sisters: Janice, Phyllis, and Carmen
(his sister, Rosalind preceded him in death); thirty-five nieces and nephews, seventeen great
nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
We loved our brother Paul; he left behind cherished memories with each one of us until we meet again...
