Obituary of John Lee

John Lee was born on February 9, 1963, to Earvin Lee and Ella Mae Stanley Lee. A resident of Monroeville, Alabama.  At an early age, he accepted the Lord and Savior and throughout his lifetime he was a faithful servant of God.

He attended and graduated from Monroe County High School, Class of 1981. Also, a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. He is the sixth of nine children born to his parents. A person who gave for his family and work, He loved and believed in the strength of family.  

After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country for twenty years until he was honorably discharged. He also worked for an additional 22 years as a Federal Government employee where he excelled in his last assignment serving as the Acting Deputy Director for Headquarters Department of the Army, Resource Services Washington. He married the love of his life Maria Ortega Perez in 1986, and shared 40 years of marriage together. John and Maria loved spending time together traveling the world, listening to music, singing in the choir and being with their families. On March 25, 2024, John transitioned from his earthly home. He was preceded in death by his parents Earvin Lee and Ella Mae Stanley Lee, his brother Ronnie Lee, his niece Evaughn Q. Dean, and his nephew Bentley D. Martin.

John leaves many memories that will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 40 years Maria Ortega Perez, siblings David Lee of Fredericksburg, VA, Richard (Stephanie) Lee of Woodbridge, VA, Dennis Lee of Tampa, FL, Brenda Lee of Springfield, VA, Ruby Lee Stabler of Pensacola, FL, Elnora Lee of Louisville, KY, and Jeanette (Bobby) Martin of Fayetteville, NC; his brother in-law Juan Luis Ortega Perez “children” Luis, Aida and Angela of Málaga, Spain. John enjoyed being with his wife and family. Seven nieces, six nephews, thirteen great nieces, eighteen great nephews, six great great-nieces, six great great-nephews; many relatives and friends in the US and Spain.
